today was the best day ever. it started out by me waking up on my own at ~9am, feeling quite refreshed and very not-at-school. i worked on a "group" paper for about 2 or 3 hours, finishing it up in the process [no editing on this one...as any self-respecting ECE student knows, if it's a technical paper you're writing, errors are permissible and often encouraged to make it look as if you know too much about the subject to care about the format]. the story goes here that it's a "group" project consisting of a "group" paper and "group" presentation. well...my partner is a douche and hasn't done shit. after i wrote the first draft for an all nighter last week, i basically said "fuck it" and didn't list his name on the paper. all i hope is that he doesn't show up to the presentation...because he doesn't know dick about our subject (IBM's Cell processor, which is to be seen in the PS3 come 2006).
after that, it was off to juggling, outside, in the beautiful 80 degree weather. man, it was gorgeous, and i feel that juggling is becoming not only easier, but fun and rewarding. there's nothing like learning how to throw "underhand" in clubs (throw a club under one arm instead of throwing it with arms in parallel). then there's the attempts at behind the back throwing, which worked successfully for about 2 times in total...but that's a whole difficulty level i've never attempted before before which takes absolute control and timing beyond my abilities as of now. but the challenge was good!
then there was the communal trip to rally's for cheap food day along with some DQ...which i havne't had in a long time. after this, i started at juggling again, but realized one thing: we at pike don't do enough athletics. sure, we have some awesome athletes, but we don't really do much on our extremely expansive, awesome grounds. so...i rounded up about a dozen guys and we played some ultimate frizby until we were all sufficiently tired (~1 hour...man am i out of shape!). then...we watched office space. good movie...i laughed more out of spite because of the subtle ironies in it...which i am soon sure to witness some of.
after showering and eating, keacher [my big bro, for you out of the know] started asking for advice on a computer purchase, which i was way too into and enjoyed too much to not call myself a tool. overall, i believe i had resolved a good portion of the questions he had with somewhat sufficient answers and was able to get several parts actually resolved, leaving him with the choice of mobo and processor, although i did leave some subtle hints at products that i would personally buy at a time like this. ahh...there's nothing like building a computer from scratch. if there were a class at rose dedicated to the new and up-and-coming computer technologies, i am about 99% sure i'd try my hardest to take it because i'm just a big geek. more or less, a computer architecture III class is what i'm looking for. next quarter...err..next year i'm in a VLSI course which is essentially comparch mixed with an analog signals class, which is bound to be challenging but rewarding. also, i will be in a DSP (digital signal processing) course that is supposed to be pretty sweet (a lot of Matlab and the like). between those two, i will be sufficiently busy and entertained...and also doing a lot of work on deciding on my major come grad school, as those are basically two of the three possibilities i'm looking at (processor design being the third). well....
i've written too much already...later.
