I've been busy...really busy

so, i haven't updated in like a month. what can i say? i'm a busy man. but i think my business is really not a problem. i just might need to slow down...someday. maybe.

tomorrow i'm going to be inducted into yet another honorary society thing. this brings the list to: ALD, TBP, and now HKN. I am also the responding secretary for TBP, and probably will be an officer for HKN. I can't say if being involved this much is a bad thing, but i am willing to keep it going...i basically have 4 more quarters left at rose. and then it's the real world...or grad school, which you will probably hear me voice concerns about in a couple of months, pending on my time available to write in this.

it seems that this quarter, i've had nothing but project after project after project. if you really want to see a working FAT12 implementation (the only problem with it is that it doesn't optimize disk space), check this out. if you don't know what UNIX is, don't even waste your time...if you want to run it, get "floppy3" from here, compile the whole project in a terminal shell [ie in UNIX / Linux] by typing "make clean" in the terminal, and then run 'shell'. it's a glorious thing...seeing it work. the commands made (with no flags implemented) are: ls, cd, pwd, cat, df, touch, mkdir, rm, and rmdir...and two made up commands called "PrintFatEntries" and "PrintBootSector" (case sensitive). enjoy it if you will...i'm claiming responsibility of about 8.5 out of the 11 written functions (and half the shell), which sucks considering that there were 3 other people in the project. 2 of them were heavy on the documentation, while the third just did nothing. wtf...

then there's some tech com paper that we had to write. i chose the subject of JPEG2000 (a new image compression standard), and more in particular region-of-interest (ROI) coding within it. the paper is pretty sweet, and written to fit the forum of the IEEE Spectrum. i've made it into a pdf file here.

then there's the ECE 361 project, which is to build a legos contraption to hit some balls into a goal. we might just stand a chance at winning this one, i don't know for sure, but we have some work to do yet.

some other projects have come and gone, but for the most part, that's what i've been workign on for the last 2 or 3 weeks.

'i'm out like michael j fox in jenga', wojo.
