Classes and Rush begins.

so, i haven't updated in a while. this is because: i'm busy.

go figure.

so...new things happening in my life. umm...school is getting to be somewhat fun. in cs220 (essentially computer science 2), my prof (don bagert) is a decent guy...a little slow on the talking and lecturing side of class, but a great guy to talk to because he is so amiable. but anyway...the first project that we have to do is "LightsOut", which is cake for me. i think the net time into it was about 3 hours before i completed absolutely everything that he wanted (minus putting in a dialog box with my name and info in it). so...that's been fun in a way. i've grown accustomed to workign with GUI in java, which is way easier than i remember it being in cs120.

in other classes, my prof for ece200 (circuits and systems) is a foreigner from china(?)...so her accent is indeed notable. she teaches well though...it's just hard to get info from her when you don't know what's going on with the problem. then there's the homework grader. mysteriously on the homeworks, all of us students have been losing points on problems with absolutely no other writing on the problem other than a "3" out of 4 points. man that pisses me off! i'd at least like to know which part of my method was wrong or maybe which answer was wrong. damn...graders can suck ass. hmmm...disco (discrete and combinatorial mathematics I) is interesting. it's been difficult so far, but i believe i'll do well [or so i hope].

the last class in my schedule this quarter is cs232, computer architecture 1. this class is awesome! so far we've been programming in assembler and looking into the basics of computer operation. the end project in this class is to actually make a processor somewhat comparable to the MIPS (millions of instructions per second) chip, such that it can run a certain program efficiently and then also prove to be versatile in other programs. wow...it's deep. but i like it a lot. the prof is indian, but it's ok. she's got one of those british indian accents and it's very faint...plus she knows her shit in this area real well.

looking into the broken glass that is my schedule to be, i think i'm leaning towards becoming a computer engineer with a computer science double major. i think that fits me best, and i believe i'll learn more from it that i'll want to apply to my job [and life] as opposed to the computer engineer with electrical engineer. i'm not 100% on this yet...i have yet to talk to my advisor about the complications this could bring about in my schedule for the next three years.

recently a small group of pikes have been working out in the SRC...and it's been fun. in my little clique of bad-ass bitches, we have greve, j chase, and myself. up till now we've been able to work out to the fullest and already all of us have seen and felt improvements...although i can't believe i've topped 190 on the scales [the first time i was like "holy shit!" now it's more or less like "i think i'm still 190...oh well"]. anyway, that about puts me at the "freshman 15", after a full year of being a college student. but in reality, i think that it's closer to 10.

so. rush has begun. this is a problem in ways...mostly because of that dreaded four letter word: time. i will manage, but i want to rush a lot. today was the first dorm storming day. i met a lot of good guys and hope to meet even more. as we say here, i'm out to find a little brother. it should prove interesting...tomorrow is informals, and so is friday. pike day is saturday. deming block party is thursday. holy shit. this week is going to be crazy.

well...i have some HW to work on so i can sleep sometime...tomorrow. in all that is the best of the best, peace. enjoy the times that we call now in hopes of seeing more tomorrow. while i [hopefully] sleep.
