well, things are great here...sort of.
well...so far this week i've already put in about 40 hours at the restaurant, and i still have saturday and sunday to go. it's been kinda slow...but i'm doing a lot of management and some research as well [with the new computer system that exists there]. then...well, i've also been on job search as well. why? because working for or with your parents blows. it blows a lot...
so...anyway, tonight i was talking with the owners of "C&B custom modular" while i was closing up the restaurant and i have scheduled an informal interview of some sort for the morning tomorrow. this...well, bodes for both good and bad, assuming i get the job. good: i will not work for my parents as much and have a lot more income coming in. bad: i will be working in a factory doing some pretty damn hard work at insanely [5 am-ish] early hours. but, in all honesty, what can i say against it? it can only make me a better person through it. plus, it's not like i'm picking a lifestyle like my brother mark. i'm only going to be working there until late august...which makes it all easy...err, easier.
so, aside from that, i haven't been doing too much. i wish i could find more of my old high school friends, but my current schedule hardly allows this...i mean, i've worked 3 of the last five days and 4 of the last five nights. honestly...one of the nights i spent out with raj, and then both days i cleaned and looked for jobs. yeah...kinda tough. more annoying than anything else.
so, right now i finally got my computer completely hooked up. the only thing that irks me the least bit is the fact that the processor can run really hot. so...under light load [ie just typing in notepad and running some music in the background], it runs at 35 to 36 celsius (97 F) while the case/mother board is somewhere around 32 C (89 F). so...when i fire up say Neverwinter Nights, the processor runs straight up to 46 to 50 C (loosely speaking 115 F to 122 F). which..well, i don't like to run up the processor that much. sadly, intel's specs say that it should run around 40 C at max for safe operating. hmm...kinda gets me mad.
i was thinking that i'd go buy some arctic silver 5 and maybe a polo unit from thermaltake. and then...while i'm at it, i was thinking about buying the ThermalTake Giant III for my radeon 9800 pro. but, well, i don't know if i will. i know that the giant III kicks ass by all means and takes the graphics card temperature down at least 6 C off the stock cooling system (I've heard viable rumors of up to 10 C). then...well, i'm pretty sure that the arctic silver would take the temp down about 2 C or so, and the polo about 5 C more than that...
hmm...well, it's all in the works. and if i come across money that i can just blow on some parts for the computer, i'll do so. and if i get the job at C&B, there is no doubt in my mind that i will eventually purchase these parts.
oh crap...i just remembered. schue was thinking about doing the same exact thing to his computer...i'm not sure if he was thinking about the same parts or not, but i remember the same concepts coming across: the processor ran somewhat hot, and the graphics card ran on fire. oh well...he'll probably purchase the stuff as well.
hmm...for now, i'm going to try to get tired so i can get up somewhat early tomorrow. later...
