well, this weekend has been good. i just wish that like could be like this always. shallow, i know. but life is such, and so am i.
so, friday was awesome. i signed up to the RHA's texas hold 'em tournament late...and i ended up being #105 out of 104 spots. so i showed up anyway becuase i knew someone wouldn't show up. Hayes was there...with his usual greeting of my name. "teddy". who calls me teddy anyway? oh well...hayes is a great guy [he's something like the "resident director of student life" at rose], and well, just a great guy. so, i ended up playing in the tournament, which we all started with $100. after about 9 hands i was down to $8. that's three chips...and i didn't get there playing foolishly either. one of the guys beat me and didn't even know it [he had an ace of spades and pulled off a flush, i had the three of spades to pull it off. he thought he beat me on high card...and he didn't even know he had a flush!!]. so anyway, i was down to $8. within another couple of hands i was up to 60 or so. then i took off to about 120. i switched tables because that's the way the tournament was working out. i stayed at that second table until i dropped out...i managed to be nearly the chip leader at one point [somewhere in the $1000 - $1100 zone]. but i lost 700 or so to one guy trying to take him out. all i needed was a pair in the end...and i got nothing! oh well...i took 13th in the tourney and managed to win a deck of cards. best thing was that there was no entry fee!
so, after that i went to the house. keacher convinced me to do "trees". but i was still at the house until 4 am, got home and went to bed. woke up bright and early at 7:30 for trees and planted 5 trees in the haute. it wasn't too bad...but i have to say that i got whacked with a tree that we were putting into the ground [mind you that each one weighed around 500 pounds or so...and yeah, i wasn't able to wear my headphones until tonight!]. after that i ate and went to help out at a track meet. there were tons of pikes there doing the officiating and helping out of things. it was a lot of fun, but i left a wee bit early and decided that i should probably get some rest. so later i went to the house and ate at wendy's with minufo and his gf Jen. good people, good times...
after that i went to the play brigadoon, in which the evil "Harry" was played by none other than the prescott. J^2 also starred as well as monsieur nelson. it was a good play...just wish that the pit would have gotten into tune a bit better.
i feel like i'm making an infamous gowdy post right now...it's so long! hmmm...haven't heard much about the gowdy machine either recently. then again, i've been lacking on my browsing of fellow peopl's diaries and the such. hmmm...
anyway, i went tot eh house again and spent some time there. lots of interesting stuff happened [as always]. for the first time in a while, i didn't play pool the whole weekend...
today was mostly homework. i'm looking into buying a digital camera, although i'm not sure exactly what's going to go on with that yet. we'll see...so far schue said that he wanted to sell me his...and i wouldn't mind that. then again, i'm lazy. of course i'd rather buy it from him than a store!
recently i've dipped back into the oasis music and have been intrigued by the heathen chemistry cd that i bought back in the day. the thing is, i know all the songs so well. but i swear that i've never listened to this before...i recommend it to all. i recommend it to anyone. so sad. sweet. i don't know how to explain it: "born on a different cloud..."
so, test on tuesday in DE2. Paper due on Thursday [or is it a rough draft?]. test thursday night in E-sys. homework all week long. oh...that which i have to do!
sleep beckons me.
